All of our products are made from either Red Grandis (engineered hardwood) or Accoya. The reason we use these timbers is due to their ideal properties for long term durability and stability, along with the ecological benefits and low carbon impact. It is for these reasons that we only offer these as options for our customers, avoiding lower quality timbers which are otherwise used frequently in the industry, to ensure quality for years to come.
Red Grandis is a high-grade engineered timber which delivers consistency in its appearance and proven strength and efficiency. The process through which the timber is grown results in a knot free, uniform timber. Easy to machine and shape, there is less waste with excellent results and overall finish.
A slower growing timber than most softwoods, Red Grandis’ environmental impact results in negative carbon emissions due to the carbon absorption during its growth lifecycle. Its overall growth span is 25 years until maturity.
Our Classic range door leaves and Heritage range products are made in Accoya as standard, our heritage range frames are Accoya and customers can choose to opt for Accoya for any of our products.
So what makes Accoya worth the extra cost? A naturally beautiful timber product, Accoya-made windows and doors offer an expected service life at least twice as long as engineered softwood before replacement is needed. It also needs much less maintenance due to the way the timber has been treated. Repainting therefore is needed half as much as other timbers.
Our main point of difference to many guarantees offered on the market, is that we are happy for you to simply keep the items clean during the first 10 years, with no need to have them repainted until after this time.

Or if you’d like to go for something different but don’t know where to start, we can visit you at your home to advise you on a colour palette that will complement both the exterior and interior of your home.

Yes. We can colour match any paint brand and colour, such as Farrow and Ball, Little Greene, Dulux or RAL. Our paint finish is a high-grade specially formulated micro-porous paint which allows the timber to breath, making it perfect for external windows and doors.
Our guarantee for paint finished windows is a 10-year no-maintenance promise (5-8 years for stain finishes) so you won’t need to repaint them during this time. Just keep them clean, and check for any damage that may occur over time. The coatings that are used are specially formulated to protect the timber from water and UV light. After this initial 10-year period, if the windows are looked after we expect them to last for a good 50-60 years, if not longer.
Should you prefer not to have to maintain your new windows and doors over the course of their lifetime we can offer a 25-year service plan which ensures that your windows will be kept in peak condition without having to lift a finger. Please contact us for more information regarding our unique long-term service plan.
There are many options on the market for replacing timber windows, from different quality timber types to refurbing existing windows. It can be a false economy to opt for cheaper products, but it is important to get value for money. We would recommend opting for high quality materials and the best glazing system within your budget, so that you can enjoy your windows for many years to come, and benefit from high thermal performance and windows and doors that work well. Also, the quality of the installation is important and should be considered when choosing an installer.
We often complete projects in stages over time, replacing a smaller number of windows, so that our customers can still have the best quality, whilst working within their current budget.
Yes, double glazed windows are going to be better than single glazed, but not all double glazed windows achieve the same thermal performance when compared. There can be significant differences between new timber double glazed windows. It is often assumed that the thermal performance of windows is solely based on the type of glazing. However, there are many other elements that contribute to the overall thermal efficiency, such as timber section sizes, use of gaskets and gasket systems (they’re not all the same!) and the way in which the glass is installed into the frames.
Our windows come with double gaskets and a wet-glazing system is used to ensure excellent thermal efficiency across the whole item. Timber is also a naturally insulating material and therefore outperforms uPVC and aluminium frames. Not only will this mean that your home is more comfortable, but you’ll also be paying less for your heating. Our quotations contain all the information that you need to be able to assess the spec of our windows carefully.
For your peace of mind we are a CERTASS registered installer and will provide a building regulations compliance certificate once the installation is complete (for all relevant installations not requiring planning permission to be completed through Building Control).
